ARMONK, NY— The Livanos family and The Afya Foundation hosted a fundraiser in support of Project SPORA and the people of Lesvos, Greece on Thursday, September 29 at Moderne Barn in Armonk, NY. Nick Livanos, proprietor of Moderne Barn, and the entire Livanos family alongside Danielle Butin, Executive Director of The Afya Foundation, and her team, welcomed over a hundred guests for an evening of auctions, Greek music, and fine food. The evening successfully raised enough funding to ship a 40-foot container of medical supplies and equipment to Lesbos. The Livanos family and The Afya Foundation thank all who attended for their generous support.
According the Afya website, “since 2008, The Afya Foundation has collected and shipped more than 7 million pounds of critically needed medical supplies (with a value in excess of $27 million) to resource-poor hospitals and distressed populations in 68 countries around the world. Afya’s operating model is exceptionally efficient, resulting in over 95% of donor dollars being used to support Afya’s life-saving work. The event spotlighted Afya’s recent work in Greece – especially its support for the people of Lesbos and their efforts to address the epic refugee crisis in the region.”
