CHERRY HILL, NJ – On April 17, the eve of the Greek Independence Parade in Philadelphia, Greek-Americans and Philhellenes gathered at the Danielle Kousoulis Center of the St. Thomas Greek Orthodox Church in Cherry Hill,, NJ – a Philadelphia suburb – to join the Federation of Hellenic American Societies of Philadelphia and the Greater Delaware Valley in bestowing its Eleftheria Medal upon Nicholas Karabots and his wife, Athena.
The Karabotses, through their Karabots Foundation have donated millions of dollars to various worthy causes in the Philadelphia area, including the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and two historic Philadelphia museums – the Franklin Institute and the Philadelphia Art Museum – the latter being the ultimate destination of the Greek Independence Parade March.
