CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH – The Zoe House for helping pregnant women, a ministry of Zoe for Life, was scheduled to receive a blessing on March 4 by five Orthodox Bishops: Metropolitan Savas of Pittsburgh, of the Greek Orthodox Church; Archbishop Nathaniel of the Romanian Episcopate; His Grace, Bishop Daniel of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church; Bishop Gregory of the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese; and Bishop Paul of the Orthodox Church in America, LifeSiteNews reported.
An Orthodox Christian initiative, Zoe helps women who need emotional and spiritual support during crisis pregnancies, and also assists Orthodox Christians who seek “pure living,” and provides education and retreats to that end.
Zoe President Paula Kappos told LifeSiteNews, “We are amazed and humbled by the love and tenderness which our hierarchs are showering on us. It is proof, once again, that when we walk in faith, God walks with us. This is an awe-inspiring event, the memory of which we will cherish forever.”
Kappos said the hierarchs’ response was tremendously positive, adding that Bishops Gregory and Paul cleared their schedules to participate, and Archbishop Nathaniel called personally to accept the invitation. Pittsburgh Metropolis Chancellor, Fr. George Callos, relayed Metropolitan Savas’ happiness to co-lead the blessing.
“We are incredibly excited about what God is doing with ZOE for Life and are looking forward to whatever else He might have in store,” Kappos added.
As Zoe’s website describes: “the Zoe House affords us the opportunity to share the message of Christ’s love for every soul through this nurturing environment. Confidential services are provided to our clients, as well as maternity and baby clothes, necessary baby furniture and supplies.”
A pro-life organization, Zoe’s goal is “to offer more options to women in distress to empower them to make life saving decisions for their babies as well as themselves.”
