EASTON, PA (from The Express Times, published on Apr. 11) – Fotini Balaskas, 83, of Palmer Township, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 10, surrounded by family and husband of nearly 50 years. Born May 5, 1935, in Kallithea, Olympia, Greece, Fotini was a daughter of the late Dimitrios and Kallirroi (Dimitrouli) Doganis. Fotini worked in Thessaloniki, Greece, before marrying and immigrating to Easton. Married in Glyfada, Athens on May 2, 1970, to Nicholas Balaskas of Easton, they enjoyed many years of love and happiness together. After retiring from A&H Sportswear, she enjoyed traveling, cooking, gardening, and her Church. A lifelong and devout member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, she enjoyed attending Divine Liturgy and helping. Surviving are her husband, Nicholas Balaskas, niece, Kallirroi Parashos and her husband, Hariton, great-nephews, Christos Parashos, Demetrios Parashos and Nicholas Parashos and his wife, Megan, and great-grandnephew Hariton and great-grandniece Kallirroi Parashos. She was predeceased by her brother, Panayotis Doganis, and her sisters, Aimilia Spyropoulos, and Gianoula Gianopoulos. Services were held in Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Easton. EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ (from the Home News Tribune, published on Apr. 4) – Christine Colitsas, 90, of East Brunswick, passed away on Tuesday, April 2 at Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center. Born in Athens, Greece, Mrs. Colitsas was a war bride who immigrated to the United States with her husband at the age of 17. Predeceased by her daughter, Aspasia; she is survived by her husband, James Colitsas; her son, Thomas (Nancy) Colitsas; her four grandchildren, James (Maya), Michelle (Scott), Anthony (Kim), Christine (Neil); and her six great-grandchildren, Tommy, Abby, Isabella, Sawyer, Emily and Alexander. The funeral was held at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Piscataway, NJ.

BRIDGEPORT, CT (from the Connecticut Post, published on Apr. 10) – Frosso Costanta, age 94 of Bridgeport, loving wife of 63 years to the late Costis Costanta passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 9 with her loving family by her side. Born in Andros, Greece, she was the daughter of the late George and Anna Karlou Vidalis. Frosso was a devoted member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Frosso is survived by her daughter Georgia Costanta, grandson Costas Costanta, both of Bridgeport; three sisters-in-law, Anastasia Gergiou of England, Magtha Tsindos of Cyprus, Androula Lambrakis of Cyprus, a brother-in-law Kiriako Constantas of England, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Anthony Costanta. The Rite of Burial was celebrated Friday, April 12 in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Bridgeport with Fr. Nick will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 24 years, Irene Darras and his beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. He served in the Greek Army for 4 years. He was a dedicated steward to Saint Katherine and Annunciation Greek Orthodox Churches and a long standing Secretary to the Peloponision Society. SCHENECTADY, NY (from The Daily Gazette, published on Apr. 11) – Angeliki Jones, 73, passed away at home, Sunday, April 7. Angeliki was born in Temeni, Greece to the late Athanasios and Hrissoula Kriketou Athanasiou. She emigrated to America in 1969. She worked as a family care provider for the Capital District Psychiatric Center. Angeliki was a member and active volunteer of St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church and belonged to the Philoptochos Society. She also volunteered at the Schenectady City Mission, including their soup kitchen. Angeliki was predeceased by her husband, Edward A. Jones, who died in 2013. She is survived by two children, Faith (Michael D.) Adamec of Rotterdam and Thomas (Shannon) Jones of West Charlton; one sister, Eleni Athanasiou, and three grandchildren, Katherine Adamec, Matthew Jones and Leah Jones. The funeral service was conducted Monday, April 15 St. St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church. GLENVIEW, IL (from the Chicago Tribune, published on Apr. 3) – Nikolaos Kyriakopoulos, age 94, of Karatoula, Megalopolis, Arcadia, Greece passed away on Saturday, March 30. Beloved husband of Stavroula and loving father of Georgia, Pete (Mary), Steve (Kathleen), and Bill (Ellen) Kyriakopoulos. Devoted son of the late Panagiotis and Georgia; proud grandfather of Nick, Stavroula, Stephanie (Alex), Katlyn, Nikolas, Renee, Nicole and Stavro; dear brother of Gus (the late Demetra) Kyriakopoulos and pre-deceased by siblings, Haralambos, Demetra, Maria, Theodoros, and Anna. ALLENTOWN, PA (from the Morning Call, published on Apr. 9) – Hrisa H. Lambrinos, 90, of Allentown, died on April 7. She was the wife of the late Christos L. Lambrinos who died in 1996. Hrisa was born on November 12, 1928 in Filia, Greece, daughter of the late Stergios and Evrikomi (Marmarou) Savas. She was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral and was active in Philoptochos and the Senior Citizen’s. She helped out in the family’s Town & Country Restaurant in Bath. Survivors: Son Stergios and his wife Christina of Allentown; daughters Anthipe Marmaros, her husband Efstratios of Allentown and Evrikomi Kefala and husband Fotios of Filia, Greece; sisters Panyiota and Eleni both of Australia; eight grandchildren, Annamaria, Chrisa, Hristos, George, Panyiotis, Niki, Christos, Chrisa, and eight great-grandchildren. Services were held April 10 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Bethlehem. Contributions: To the Cathedral.
