NEW YORK – It is an “off year,” so few Greek-American office holders are up for re-election, but in places like New York’s Nassau County, the community is excited about candidacies of their own, including Madeline Singas, who is running for Nassau County District Attorney.

In the same county’s town of North Hempstead, Emily Drenis Beys is in her first campaign, seeking to be elected a member of the Town Board. Like Singas, she is a Democrat and a member of the Church of The Archangel Michael in Port Washington.

Stavroula Kotrotsios, is running for the office of Marple Newtown School Director position in Pennsylvania – and where she can, she appears on both the Democratic and Republican party lines.

“I am very passionate about education,” said Kotrotsios, who has dedicated her life to public service. “It is my goal to shape and advance the future of young students,” she told TNH.

Kotrotsios was born and raised in Delaware County, where she currently serves as an Assistant District Attorney. She was graduated from Villanova University with Cum Laude honors. During her time as an undergraduate she also attended the University of Oxford as a visiting scholar. Kotrotsios received her J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law. She is an active member of St. Luke’s Greek Orthodox Church in Broomall, PA.
