NBA and Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo stands out in his adopted city not just for his size and skills, but his fluent Greek learned growing up in Athens where he had to sell sunglasses to get money for his family.
He learned to love Greek food too, including that cooked by his mother and told TV station WTMJ, where he was interviewed in Greek by reporter Pete Zervakis, that when he gets a hankering for some outside the house that he turns to the restaurant Omegafor some lamb chops, chicken souvlaki, spinach pies and more. Or waits for his mom to cook for him.
The Bucks’ All-Star also said he’s touched by how many Greek-American fans gather to support him at NBA arenas across the United States when the Bucks come to town.
