NEW YORK – Popular singer Thanos Petrelis visited the Dimitrios & Georgia Kaloidis School of Holy Cross in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn on March 29 where the students performed a variety of his songs including Petrelis’ hit- Thimizeis kati apo Ellada (You Remind me something of Greece).
Principal Francesca Mannino welcomed Petrelis and noted that he is one of the most popular singers of Greece.
“I am very happy about the invitation and that I am in a Greek school so far away from Greece,” Petrelis said, visibly moved by the experience.
“It’s something I like and I always accept the invitations with joy because it is very important in a foreign country, in a country located thousands of miles away from Greece, to have Hellenism. There is Greek language, customs, songs, and this tradition continues, because Greek language, traditions, and customs are the alpha and omega,” he added.
The principal pointed out that the students carefully prepared for the artistic program.
The choir, led by Kostantinos Stergioulis, performed, and when Demetra Koukoulis sang Thimizeis kati apo Ellada, Petrelis joined her in singing the chorus.
