BETHESDA, MD – The Hellenic Society Prometheas, celebrating forty years: 1978 – 2018, presents a screening of the documentary film The Brave Stepped Back: The Life and Times of Laskarina Bouboulina, in English with Greek subtitles on Friday, March 9 at 8 PM at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 7701 Bradley Blvd. in Bethesda. The film is by April Kalogeropoulos Householder, PhD- Director of Undergraduate Research and Prestigious Scholarships at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County
Using historical documents and interviews with Bouboulina’s descendants and specialists in the fields of Greek and Ottoman History, with live footage gathered in Spetses, Nafplion, Athens, and the U.S., music and artwork of the period, this 69-minute documentary explores Greek history through the life and times of Laskarina Bouboulina, one of Greece’s most important revolutionaries.
