Greek Day at the New York Stock Exchange Rings Opening Bell

NEW YORK – Within the context of the 18th Annual Capital Link Invest in Greece Forum the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in cooperation with Capital Link organized a special ceremony in honor of Greece entitled “Greek Day” at NYSE.

On December 13, NYSE held an official reception in honor of the Greek Delegation, government officials, executives, Greek companies listed on the NYSE, and companies that participated in the Forum which was a great success the previous day.

The NYSE flew the Greek flag on Wall Street and issued special commemorative medals to honor the members of the Greek Delegation.

George Stathakis, Minister of Environment and Energy of the Hellenic Republic, rang the opening bell, starting the trading session. NYSE Representative Stacey Cunningham- Chief Operating Officer, Nicolas Bornozis- President of Capital Link, and Olga Bornozi- Managing Director of Capital Link also attended the ceremony.

The participants in the Opening Bell ceremony included from the Government Delegation: George Stathakis- Minister of Environment and Energy, Alexis Charitsis- Alternate Minister of Economy and Development, George Pitsilis- Secretary General of the General Secretariat for Public Revenue – Ministry of Finance, Eric Tourret- Deputy CEO Hellenic Financial Stability Fund, Haris Lalacos- Ambassador of Greece to the United States, Dr. Constantine Koutras- Consul General of Greece in New York, and Manos Koubarakis- Consul of Greece in New York.

Among the U.S.- listed companies were Aegean Marine Petroleum (NYSE: ANW), Danaos Corporation (NYSE: DAC), Dorian LPG (NYSE:LPG), Eldorado Gold Corporation – Euroseas Ltd. (NASDAQ:ESEA), Navios Maritime Holdings (NYSE: NM), and Safe Bulkers – Tsakos Energy Navigation (NYSE:TNP).

Among the listed and non-listed companies and associations that participated were A.S. The active support and participation of NYSE, the world’s largest stock exchange, enhances the prestige and the visibility of the Forum and of Greece to a wide international investment audience. It also shows the stable support for Greece, Greek companies, the Greek shipping industry, and the Diaspora. The Securities and Exchange Commission of the United States of America is a major source of capital for the growing number of Greek interest companies and the NYSE plays playing a leading role in this.

The event was broadcast live on major news stations in the United States and abroad to an audience of 150 million viewers worldwide.
